	What We Do

MUTIS is differentiated from all other business societies within the University of Manchester as we uniquely focus on the financial markets and subject matters related to or affecting the financial markets.

The society meets at 1800 each Thursday in MBS West. Although there is a general structure to the meetings it is not a rigid format and is adjusted as appropriate.

18.00-18.15: Market and macro event round-up, review/discussion of round-up, administrative details.

18.15-19.00: Presentations from members. This may be stock pitches/trading strategies/fundamental analysis/news and event coverage or any topic that is deemed interesting and informative for members. The length of each presentation is generally limited to 15 minutes including a Q&A session. This half of the meeting is aimed at novice members.

190.0-20.00: Fund meetings. Once fund managers and fund committees have been established (mid-November), the latter half of general meetings will be dedicated to discussing investment strategy. Fund meetings are technical and aimed at those with a higher level of knowledge (in particular postgraduate students/MBAs). However, we encourage junior members to attend fund meetings as being a passive member to a fund provides an excellent platform for increasing ones knowledge base.

The structure described above applies to a general meeting in which there are no guest speakers or special events. In addition to general meetings MUTIS has regular keynote speakers and recruitment events from major financial institutions, trading simulations, educational seminars, workshops and social events.
